Mendoza’s conurbation (1.7 million inhabitants, located in the western part of Argentina, at the foot of the Andean mountain range) undertook the development of a 2030 transportation masterplan. This project aimed to analyse the results of the diagnosis phase (methodology, data, results analysis), suggest methodological proposals and deliver a synthesis of the core elements and the actions to implement for the masterplan.
The examined elements and the proposals included the structure of the local mobility, the hierarchy of the road network and its aspects of public space sharing, flows management, safety and comfort, the public transport offer and demand (integration of the new tramway service, adequacy, monitoring and evolution views), the public spaces and the pedestrian infrastructure, the recent development of a bicycle offer and its effects or the city traffic management stakes.
The study was delivered at the end of 2014 and its outcomes have been integrated to the local wokr in progress. The elements have been developed by Tamara Bozovic in collaboration with the City on the Move Institute (IVM).
