In 2010, two years after the launch of Lausanne’s automatic underground line m2, it was crucial to confront the counts and observations to the demand prediction realized during the project, and establish a middle- and long-term demand prediction to guide capacity management.
A complete baseline assessment was established, pointing out in particular the most critical sections and time periods. An additional investigation was realized in order to identify the flows playing important roles in these situations. The demand prediction was grounded on this knowledge and served as basis for the recommendation for the middle- and long-term capacity management.
