HUG is Switzerland’s first university hospital, with 8 sites, 1’800 beds, more than 900.000 yearly ambulatory interventions and more than 10.300 employees (figures: HUG 2013).
In 2005, the Hospital has started a work on a company mobility plan in order to manage efficiently the accesses by the different modes for the employees, patients and visitors, and face the parking spaces reduction required in order to adapt to the current regulation. The mandate has been given to Citec Ingénieurs Conseils, a Geneva-based transportation consultant company, with the objective to propose solutions adapted to the specific functioning, corresponding to the needed modal split improvement and deliver a set of clear rules for the parking spaces attribution. All the elements were to be refined with the dedicated work group and approved by the Hospital’s authorities.
