This project aimed to assess the urban state highways through Hamilton, New Zealand, from the perspective of people on foot or on bicycles. Were analyzed:
This work allowed to identify priority areas for improvement, where both the potential of local connections and the difficulties are high. The result was included in Hamilton’s Network Improvement Plan.
The work was done by Tamara Bozovic, at that time Principal Transport Planner for New Zealand Transport Agency, in collaboration with Hamilton City Council and the local NGOs. The results were presented at Walk21 Calgary and the Active Living Symposium, Dunedin (both in 2017).
