The Municipality of Mont-sur-Rolle plans a new residential urban development, Jolimont, and wants to offer safe mobility options for the future residents. At the moment, there is an important lack of pedestrian infrastructure in the project perimeter, especially on the itinerary to the primary school (1.5 km). The majority of the children living in this sector are currently brought to school by car.

The presented drafts show an intersection of secondary roads in a low density area. The carriageway is delimited in big part by stone walls and there is no pedestrian infrastructure. The theoretical pupils’ route is represented in red. The proposition creates pedestrian space delimited by regular or crossable curbs, necessary in very narrow sections. This solution allows punctual passings at very low speed. The crossable curbs also favourably influence the speeds (reduction of the visual gauging).
